Preconception/Prenatal Physiotherapy Assessment

Description

This assessment is designed to educate women on the changes occurring in their bodies prior or during pregnancy. You will learn about your “deep core” system, how to protect yourself from incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, and lower back/pelvic pain. You will learn the importance of proper breathing strategies, appropriate aerobic and strength training recommendations to reduce your risk of metabolic diseases in pregnancy. You can start seeing a pelvic floor physiotherapist in any trimester of pregnancy or better yet, when you are trying to conceive! As your pregnancy progresses, you will learn about how to prepare for labour and delivery, labour and birth positions, pushing strategies, perineal stretching and massage, breastfeeding postures and advice for postpartum healing. I will review torticollis education and how to best support your baby with their gross motor skills. I encourage patients to book a follow-up appointment (45 minutes) 2-3 weeks after their assessment. This will ensure you're not waiting too long in-between appointments. Please e-mail me to ask to go on my waiting list.
